Operation Encompass was first implemented in 2015 in Hartlepool and is now well embedded across all schools nationally. This includes state and independent nurseries, schools, academies, alternative education providers and children’s community health support services, such as school nurses and health visitors.

Operation Encompass is a national scheme that helps schools support children who may have been involved in or affected by domestic incidents. When the police attend a domestic incident, they let the school’s Designated Safeguarding Lead know before the next school day if a child is linked to that incident. This means the school can offer care, understanding, and support as soon as possible, helping the child feel safe and ready to learn.
